Feline panleukopenia, caused by feline panleukopenia virus (FPV), is an acute, highly contagious disease in felines, also known as feline infectious enteritis or feline parvovirus infection. It is one of the most critical infectious diseases in cats. The disease primarily affects kittens under one year of age, with an infection rate reaching 70% in unvaccinated kittens aged 3-5 months, and a mortality rate of 50%-60%. Clinical symptoms include sudden high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and severe leukopenia. Infected pregnant queens can transmit the virus vertically through the placenta, leading to abortion or neurological symptoms in newborn kittens.
