Testosterone is a natural androgen belonging to the steroid class of natural medicines, specifically an androstane-based sex hormone.Testosterone suppresses the secretion of gonadotropins from the anterior pituitary gland, thereby inhibiting spermatogenesis. It promotes protein synthesis, stimulates bone marrow hematopoiesis, enhances immune function by supporting immunoglobulin synthesis, and increases renal tubular reabsorption of water, sodium, and calcium retention. Clinically used androgens are synthetic derivatives of testosterone. Testosterone promotes the development of male reproductive organs and secondary sexual characteristics. In females, it is primarily used to treat inoperable breast cancer, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and dysmenorrhea; however, high doses may cause virilization, edema, jaundice, and other side effects. It is also used in male animals to address lack of libido due to testicular insufficiency and premature decline in working capacity post-castration.Sensitivity: ELISA IC50: 0.2 ppb; Colloidal Gold: 5 ppbCross-reactivity: Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) 0.4 ppbSource: Mouse Monoclonal AntibodiesRecommended Pairing: (Coating) / (Labeling)Storage: For long-term storage, keep at ≤ -20°C; for short-term storage, keep at 2-8°C.
