AccuSift Liquid Preservative MB-1 is one of the most widely used bactericides. It can be applied in various fields such as reagents, quality control materials, calibrators, and buffer solutions. At low working concentrations, MB-1 helps extend product shelf life and effectively inhibits a wide range of microorganisms. It does not affect the activity of most enzymes, antibody binding in reaction systems, or changes in the absorbance of indicator substances. Its excellent water solubility facilitates broad application in in vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagents. Both AccuSift Liquid Preservative MB-1 and ProClin*300 belong to the isothiazolinone class of preservatives and share the same antimicrobial mechanism of action.ProClin*300 is also a commonly used preservative in IVD and is widely employed in diagnostic reagents. However, it has two known issues:
1.Yellowing: ProClin*300 is relatively unstable and exhibits significant yellowing in neutral or alkaline pH environments. Yellowing and even precipitation can occur easily when used at high concentrations.
2.Loss of Efficacy: The activity of ProClin*300 can be compromised in alkaline environments, if reagent storage or production temperatures are too high, or due to changes in stabilizer composition.
The degradation rate of ProClin300 increases with rising pH in weakly alkaline environments; therefore, it is more stable in acidic conditions (pH < 7). ProClin300 is relatively stable at low temperatures (<25°C), but its degradation rate increases with rising solution temperature. At pH 7, natural light rapidly degrades the active components of ProClin300 (t = 322 hours). Solutions containing thiols, sulfides, strong reducing agents (e.g., sodium sulfite, bleach), or high pH accelerate the photodegradation of ProClin300. Divalent ions such as copper, zinc, manganese, and magnesium, as well as phosphates, can inhibit its chemical degradation.Liquid Preservative MB-1 is an upgraded version of ProClin300. It offers higher active concentration, greater stability, better temperature and alkali resistance, and longer antimicrobial activity compared to ProClin300. It has a lighter color, which does not interfere with detection in reagents.
•Broad-spectrum, long-lasting efficacy against bacteria, molds, and yeasts.
•Free of added organic solvents, halogenated organic compounds, formaldehyde releasers, or divalent metal ions.
•Effective over a wide pH range (2.0–10.0).
•Highly soluble in water, most lower alcohols, and glycols.
•Good compatibility with antibodies and various enzymes; does not affect the activity of enzymes such as HRP and AP.
•Does not inhibit antibody binding.
•Environmentally friendly, readily biodegradable.
