Application
DMSO is a polar non-polar solvent used in chemical reactions (such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR)), and can also be used as a cryoprotective glass-forming agent for preserving cells, tissues, and organs. DMSO can be used in cell cryopreservation media to protect cells from mechanical damage caused by ice crystals. It can be applied to primary, subculture cultures, and recombinant aneuploid and hybridoma cell lines, embryonic stem cells (ESCs), and hematopoietic stem cells for cryopreservation. DMSO is often used in combination with BSA or fetal bovine serum (FBS).
Warning
It will solidify at low temperatures and slowly melt and solidify at room temperature. Products placed at room temperature can be liquefied again without any effect on themselves.
