Indomethacin is a synthetic indoleacetic acid derivative, belonging to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is commonly used to treat non-specific fever, dysmenorrhea, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, and is one of the most potent anti-inflammatory agents among NSAIDs. It also has positive effects on the immune function of patients with cancers such as breast cancer, cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, colon cancer, gastric cancer, and liver cancer.Indomethacin has significant side effects, with the most pronounced impact on the central nervous system, manifesting as depression, confusion, and hallucinations. It also exhibits hepatotoxicity and hematotoxicity, and can cause allergic reactions and gastrointestinal disturbances.
