Aldicarb is a carbamate insecticide with contact, stomach, and systemic action. It is primarily used to control pests on cotton, sugar beets, and other crops, but is banned on vegetables, fruits, tea, and aquatic plants by national regulations. It is classified as highly toxic.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announcement, the production of aldicarb formulations has been prohibited since June 1, 2024, and its complete ban will take effect on June 1, 2026. The World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has listed it as a Group 3 carcinogen.
