In November 2017, the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences classified it as a prohibited drug in aquaculture. It was officially included in the "List of Drugs and Other Compounds Prohibited for Use in Food-Producing Animals" by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Announcement No. 250 on December 27, 2019.
