Cefquinome is the first fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotic exclusively developed for veterinary use. As a β-lactam antimicrobial, it demonstrates high stability against β-lactamases and exhibits a broad spectrum of activity against pathogens including Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniaeand Glaesserella parasuis. It is clinically used for treating respiratory infections in swine and cattle, as well as bovine mastitis. The recommended intramuscular dosage is 3 mg per kilogram of body weight. The drug formulation includes cefquinome sulfate injection, which reaches peak plasma concentration approximately 1 hour post-intramuscular administration, with an elimination half-life of about 9 hours.
