AccuSift provides high-performance sulfamethazine (also known as sulfadimidine) competitive assay pairings, characterized by exceptional batch-to-batch consistency and optimized for IVD kit development (Lateral Flow, Chemiluminescence, ELISA, POCT). These pairings offer high affinity and specificity, facilitating rapid detection.Sulfamethazine is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent. Its structure is similar to para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), allowing it to competitively inhibit bacterial dihydropteroate synthase. This action prevents PABA from being utilized by bacteria to synthesize folate, thereby reducing the production of metabolically active tetrahydrofolic acid—an essential cofactor for bacterial synthesis of purines, thymidine, and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Consequently, this mechanism inhibits bacterial growth and reproduction. On October 27, 2017, the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified sulfamethazine as a Group 3 carcinogen in its preliminary list of carcinogens.
